Aka Mātauranga

We celebrate Rongomaiwahinetanga through whakapapa, waiata and pūrakau. Marae wānanga are a way to gain and share mātauranga of our marae kawa and tikanga.

Mātauranga outcomes identified by whānau are;

  • Identity - whānau know who they are and are proud of their Rongomaiwahinetanga.
  • All Marae and Hapu will have mana motuhake
  • Our Te Reo, kawa me ōna tikanga is revitalised
  • Our libraries are full, and preserve our mātauranga, hītori and pakiwaitara for future mokopuna to embrace and be proud of.

We’re leading by example. Our RIT Kaimahi team are building their knowledge of Te Ao Māori in line with the aspirations our whānau have outlined.

This includes participating in Te Reo lessons, and learning our Mahia whakapapa, waiata and pūrakau.

The Rongomaiwahinetanga Wānanga are an opportunity to gain mātauranga of our marae kawa and tikanga. Future classes and wānanga will be available for whānau and using our Kaimahi lessons we are developing future online services for all Rongomaiwahine.

Growing our mātauranga is important to us. Our whakapapa can connect us to all over Aotearoa. If you have any whakaaro, any purakau, anything you would like to share with us, please contact us.
